I’m Lorenzo Veppi, a 22 year old boy who’s born and raised in Genk, Belgium. In 2018, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and started working for Mediahuis, one of Belgium’s leading media companies. But how did I get here?
Little me has always been a bit of a dreamer. As I started getting older, I realized that your dreams won’t magically turn into reality. You have to put in a lot of work and be dedicated. But I’m really stubborn, and a perfectionist in every way. If I want something, I will do everything in my power to get it. And I’m just a firm believer that by working hard, you can reach every goal you set in life. Which doesn’t mean dreaming is a bad thing, but I prefer to turn my dreams into reality.
Something I struggle with a lot is my comfort zone. If I could, I would snuggle up in my own personal bubble and never step out of it. But life is so much more than the surroundings you have been living in for your whole life. So everyday I try to step outside of my comfort zone a bit more. I try new things, challenge myself or just jump into the unknown. No more zones.
If there’s one thing I discovered while studying Journalism, then it’s that I’m not traditional. I don’t aspire to become the stereotypical editor at a newspaper or TV station, but that’s exactly what I learned to become. I do admire the people who work so hard everyday to provide the world with news, but as a creative and opinionated person, I feel like that’s not what I should be doing.
I feel the desire to create… To experiment and do things of my own. As I started realizing that wasn’t possible at school, I decided to create my own little place. A place where everything is allowed. Nobody telling me something is wrong or that my ideas are bad. That doesn’t mean everything I create on this site is amazing, but it’s a learning process. I want to make mistakes.
I also want to stay fresh and surprising, so literally no subject is off limits. I will be writing about anything and everything. It could go from a political rant to a movie review, it just depends how I’m feeling.
There’s a lot more to talk about, and I will be doing that in all of my posts. By the way, it might be in Dutch or English, it depends on the subject really. That’s about it really.
